Beacon Recreation has partnered with the Newburgh YMCA to offer a new Learn to Swim program. Swim lessons build aquatic skills and confidence in Parent/Child, Preschool and School Age Children.

Winter Session: 2/25, 3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/24, 3/31
Spring Session: 4/14, 4/21, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, 5/19, 6/2, 6/9

City Hall Holiday Hours

In recognition of the Christmas holiday, City Hall will be closing Friday, December 23 at Noon and will remain closed on Monday, December 26. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, December 27.

For the New Year's, City Hall will close on Friday, December 30 at noon and will remain closed on Monday, January 2. Normal hours will Tuesday, January 3.

            The City of Beacon requests sealed proposals from licensed professional brokers to market surplus City real property. Successful broker will:

·         Have successfully marketed residential and commercial properties in the City of Beacon.

·         Have the ability to list City properties in the Multiple Listing Service.

·         Offer a competitive commission rate.

            Contact City Administrator Meredith Robson at 838-5000 for additional information on this request. Requests will be accepted through Friday, November 18, 2011.

Loose and bagged leaves will be picked up beginning
Tuesday, November 15, 2011
until the next snowfall

Bags can be taken to the Transfer Station Free of Charge
Only bagged leaves will be picked up –
no brush will be picked up during this program!

State of Emergency

All roadways in Dutchess County are closed except to emergency operations.

STATE OF EMERGENCY IN EFFECT COUNTYWIDE BEGINNING AT 7PM ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29th

Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus, in consultation with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Central Hudson and New York State Gas & Electric, has declared a countywide State of Emergency for the County of Dutchess effective 7pm this evening (Saturday, October 29th).

County Executive Steinhaus said, “Law enforcement, public works and utility crews are all reporting treacherous weather conditions with downed limbs and power lines. To ensure public safety and allow crews to address hazards and restore power, a State of Emergency will be in effect from 7pm this evening (Saturday, 10/29).”

The State of Emergency declaration states: “all roadways in Dutchess are closed and traffic is prohibited except for: medical and health facility personnel, law enforcement and public safety personnel, first responders, utility, maintenance and public works personnel, snow removal sanding, salting and clearing operations personnel, facility operations persons deemed necessary for plant operations by their employers and public and government personnel involved in the emergency operations.”

The state of emergency is issued pursuant to Section 24 of New York State Executive Law. It is enforceable by local, county and state law enforcement agencies.

The Dutchess County Emergency Operations Center has been activated to monitor and respond to snowfall on October 29th.
