Arts and Culture Committee

The mayor has announced the formation of the Arts and Culture Committee. The committee is charged with supporting Beacon arts organizations and individuals by advising the City Council to develop ordinances, work on specific projects, help to market the arts in Beacon, and more.

Robert Morgenthau Retires

For 35 years, our neighbor from Fishkill Farms was the deeply respected district attorney of Manhattan. He was responsible for fighting crime on many fronts and will be sorely missed. Read more about Mr. Morgenthau's career and retirement.

In 1939, Mr. Morgenthau made gastronomic history. When Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt entertained King George VI and Queen Elizabeth at their estate in Hyde Park, Mrs. Roosevelt asked her young neighbor Robert to cook hot dogs. News of the now-famous picnic was published on the front page of The New York Times under the headline: King Tries Hot Dog And Asks for More.
