The 2011 Hudson Valley Restaurant Week will run from March 14 through 27. The event, organized The Valley Table magazine, has snowballed since it began in 2006 into a foodie fantasia, with 160 restaurants participating -- including Cafe Amarcord and the Cup & Saucer Restaurant & Tea Room here in Beacon.

Reservations are strongly encouraged; diners can call restaurants directly or book online.
3-course menus are $20 for lunch and $28 for dinner (excluding beverage, tax and tip).
Note that some restaurants participate on weeknights only.

The city is considering permitting an entity to rent the city’s parking lot on Henry Street and South Chestnut every Sunday during the summer months for a commercial purpose such as a flea market.

ROCK BAND BOOT CAMP!
SPECIAL 8-WEEK WINTER / SPRING BOOT CAMPS for ADULTS and KIDS
Plus An Opportunity FOR TEENS to perform at Beacon Riverfest 2011.
In collaboration with the Department of Recreation, Local 845 is offering these really fun and inspiring rock band sessions again starting in February. Rock Camp and now Rock Band Boot Camp have been such a success since we launched in Beacon over the summer, we’re now happy to announce 8-week Boot Camp sessions for KIDS and ADULTS through the winter and spring.
Weekly rehearsals are 2.5 hours long. Each BOOT CAMP culminates in an amazing opportunity to perform at a venue such as The Howland Cultural Center in Beacon, NY at the end of the session, with the good possibility of additional performance opportunities.
You can register now for Winter and Spring sessions. Within each of those sessions there are separate sections for adults and teens.
Winter Session:
Tuesdays, 7-9:30PM, Feb 22—Apr 12 @ Beacon Community Center
Spring Session:
Wednesdays, 7-9:30PM, April 27—June 15 @ University Settlement Camp

Beacon Junior Baseball
Spring 2011 Season
Registration for the spring 2011 Beacon Junior Baseball season is now open. Youth baseball for kids age 5 to 12. Registration closes on March 1, 2011. Forms available at City Hall and online at cityofbeacon.org
January 18, 2011: This evening’s city council meeting has been cancelled due to the weather conditions. It has been rescheduled for Monday, January 24, 2011.
The Mayor and City emergency management staff are continually monitoring the storm. It is expected to begin after 7:00 PM tonight, January 11, 2011, with the heaviest snowfall after midnight. As needed, public announcements will be posted here, on Channel 22, on the following radio stations – 101.5, 106.1, 92.7, 96.9, 97.7, 94.3, 97.3, and on the following additional websites – WRRV.com, WPDH.com, Mix97fm.com, Hudsonvalleycountry.com and Hudsonvalleyclosings.com. Please check any of these sources for updated storm information.
PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN EFFECT
Please be advised that parking restrictions are in effect in the City of Beacon from 9:00 PM tonight until 9:00 AM tomorrow, January 12, 2011. From the City Code: “It shall be unlawful to place, park or leave any automobile, truck or other vehicle on any public road or street within the corporate limits of the City of Beacon after any fall or accumulation of snow of two or more inches, between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., or when parking on said public road or street obstructs the removal of snow …”
