All are invited to attend the 2nd annual July 4th Reading of the Declaration of Independence. This will take place in front of City Hall - 1 Municipal Plaza - at 11:00 a.m. Light refreshments will be served.
Due to city budgetary constraints we need your help to hold the annual fireworks display this year. The 2011 display was secured through private donations from local businesses, organizations and residents. All the more reason to join in at this celebration of civic pride. Help bring the rockets red glare to Memorial Park!

The City of Beacon and Royal Carting are please to announce that, commencing Saturday, June 16, 2012, Royal will begin delivering new 65-gallon single stream recycling carts to Beacon residents. Recycling instruction are laminated on its orange lid for easy reference. All recyclables, papers, plastics and metals should be placed in the cart and curbed on the night before your normal recycling collection day. Separation of recyclables is no longer necessary and the laundry basket type recycling bin will no longer be utilized.
Royal expects that is will take approximately eight (8) weeks to deliver carts to all City residents. In the meantime, Royal Carting invites Beacon residents to visit its website at www.royalcarting.com for detailed information about single stream recycling.

Dutchess County Executive Marcus J. Molinaro has announced the availability of funding to help senior citizens complete minor to moderate rehabilitation on their homes. The program provides zero percent loans and deferred payment loans up to $20,000 to income-eligible seniors citizens. For more details, click here.
A forum for U.S. military veterans will take place on June 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Memorial Building on Main Street. Dutchess County's Director of Veteran's Services, Nelson "Eddy" Rivera, will discuss benefits that are available to veterans and their families.
County Clerk Brad Kendall will be available to provide veterans with the FAVOR ID card, which provides discounts to over 130 businesses in Dutchess County as well as certain businesses throughout the Hudson Valley. Veterans should bring a copy of Full Time Active Duty separation papers with them. Proof of honorable discharge is necessary to obtain the FAVOR card.

The Dutchess County Board of Elections has notified the city that it will no longer require the use of the Memorial Building as a poll site. Beacon residents who previously voted at this site will now vote at either Rombout Middle School or St. Luke's Episcopal Church Fellowship Hall and will be notified by mail of their new polling site.
