Highlights of the 2009 holiday festivities in Beacon:
Revolutionary War Beacon Lighting Project
Wednesday, November 25, 2009 6pm to 9pm
During the Revolutionary War, General George Washington's troops would ignite flaming hilltop beacons to warning of approaching British soldiers. To commemorate the 226th anniversary of the British evacuation, the beacons will be recreated using 12 xenon searchlights signaling 108 miles between Beacon, NY and Princeton, NJ. Holiday Parade of Gifts
Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 4pm
Parade down Main Street from the Howland Center to West End Park. For the kids: singing with Santa, grab bag gifts, popcorn and more. Snow Date: Sunday, December 6, 2009.
Tree Lighting
Sunday December 6, 2009 4pm to 6pm
The Beacon Recreation annual holiday celebration at Lewis Tompkins Hose Firehouse across from City Hall. Celebrate the start of the holiday season with music, treats, and free raffles. Crafts for the kids and a chance to visit with Santa. Tree lighting at dusk.
