Enter through the stone pillars marked Hiddenbrooke. Walk along the paved road, passing by the open fields, streams and forests that give this place its beauty and character. Although lying at the foot of the mountain, the land is mainly gently sloped and easily accessible.
The park adjoins a Carmelite Monastery. Please observe the signs and respect the privacy of the Sisters.
Riverfront Park
With the River Pool, a playground, and volleyball, tennis, and basketball courts, this park extending into the Hudson just north of the Beacon train station welcomes those looking to break a sweat. The scenic setting is also perfect for fishing, a family dinner using one of the barbeque pits and picnic tables, or simply ruminating in the grass as the river rolls by. Festivals throughout the year celebrating everything from strawberries to corn to pumpkin make it a place of community, too.
Memorial Park
With pavilions, wooded picnic areas, lighted softball fields and a seriously well-equipped playground, this is your classic town park. It’s also the place for a spring carnival and summer fireworks.
South Avenue Park
Tucked in at the corner of 9D and South Avenue, this is the park for serious hoopsters, with plenty of league action drawing crowds of spectators and players in the warmer months, and pick-up games throughout the year. For those who prefer to hit a ball over the net rather than swish one through it, there are shaded tennis courts here as well.
Green Street Park
This little gem nestled in the middle of a residential neighborhood at the foot of Mt. Beacon features picnic tables under a pavilion, a basketball court, and a great playground for kids.
Beacon Point Park
Scenic Hudson has rehabilitated the shoreline off Long Dock Road, putting in boulders and stone steps to stabilize the beach, benches, and a new boardwalk leading to the sculpture pier created by artist George Trakas.
There are plans in the works to increase the size of this park by another six acres.
