The City of Beacon issues and collects City and Dutchess County taxes annually.
The Tax Collection office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4.p.m.
Note: the register closes at 3:30 p.m.
Tax payments are collected by a third party on behalf of the City until the final due date.
After that, payments with any interest and penalties need to be paid at Beacon City Hall.
Partial payments are accepted only at City Hall.
School tax bills are issued in September and are due without penalty in October. The City of Beacon School District will not collect payments between November and January. The City of Beacon only collects delinquent school taxes as of January 1.

The Assessor's office practices an open door policy with all City of Beacon taxpayers.
The Assessor's responsibility is to prepare a fair and equitable assessment roll.
The physical description and value estimate for every property in the City of Beacon are available in the Assessor's office.
The Assessor administers all real property tax exemptions.
Tax Assessment Grievance Day is held yearly at City Hall on the fourth Wednesday of May from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the lower-level classroom, enter through the Building Department.
Written Complaints with respect to assessments may be filed with the Assessor any time prior to or on Grievance Day and shall be transmitted by the Assessor to the Board of Assessment Review on or before Grievance Day.

All exemption forms are due no later than March 1, 2018.

Informal meetings regarding assessment questions about the next year's tax roll may take place throughout the year. If after speaking with the Assessor you still feel that your property is unfairly assessed, you may file a complaint with the Board of Assessment Review.
All RP-524 complaints must be received by the fourth Wednesday in May.
